Frequently Asked Questions

Why Langdon Tactical?

Langdon Tactical Technology (LTT) was founded on the realization that shooters shouldn't have to choose between reliability and quality for their EDC, competition, or duty firearms.
We start with production guns and put in the customized work that manufacturing cant recreate to enhance the overall shooter interface and experience.
From a smoother, lighter, and more consistent Double Action (DA) & Single Action (SA) trigger pull produced by our legendary trigger job, through state of the art coatings (NP3), and industry leading tech advancements (RDO) we are revolutionizing what custom firearms can be.

Langdon Tactical is Custom Without Compromise

What is the Langdon Tactical Trigger Job?

The LTT trigger job is a custom service for Beretta 92s and PX4s, as well as Springfield Armory XDE series pistols that delivers competition performance without compromising reliability.
Our gunsmiths polish, stone, and upgrade numerous parts in the firing mechanism to achieve a smoother, lighter, and more consistent trigger pull and shortened reset.

The Beretta 92 Trigger Job includes:
- Polishing & Stoning on all interacting trigger mechanism parts
- Upgraded Optimized Performance Trigger Bar
- Upgraded Chrome Silicon Hammer, Trigger Return, and Sear springs

The Beretta PX4 Trigger Job includes:
- The Beretta PX4 Competition Trigger Group
- Polishing & Stoning on all interacting trigger mechanism parts
- Upgraded Optimized Performance Trigger Bar
- Upgraded Chrome Silicon Hammer, Trigger Return, and Sear springs

The Springfield Armory XDE Trigger Job includes:
- Polishing & Stoning on all interacting trigger mechanism parts
- Upgraded Chrome Silicon Hammer, Trigger Return, and Sear springs

Don't want to send your gun in? We also offer Trigger Job in a Bag kits that can be installed by a competent gunsmith closer to home.

What is the Langdon Tactical Carry Bevel?

The Langdon Tactical gunsmithing team begins every Carry Bevel pistol by hand stoning & polishing the hard edges and snag points on the 92 frame & slide, upgrading the internal magazine well bevel, and improving the trigger guard radius.
We then include our NP3 Upgrade and Trigger Job, to dramatically improve corrosion resistance, life span, and lubricity of the action throughout the pistol, as well as user interface with the firing mechanism.
Finally, the Carry Bevel is finished off with a full re-cerakoting of the slide and frame.

How do I order a gun online?

Select the options on the guns page for the firearm you want. Add it to your cart and begin the checkout process. All you need to do is enter the name of the FFL and their shipping address in the shipping field. Put your billing information and phone number in the billing field at checkout. Once the order is complete, we will contact the FFL to get the firearm ready for shipment. You should contact them once the order is complete to fill out any paperwork to alert them that a firearm is en route.

I can't find my FFL/Dealer at checkout, what do I do?

First, please contact the FFL you will be using for transfer and confirm that they are accepting transfers from online vendors - in the event that a firearm is returned to us by the receiving Dealer, the customer will incur additional freight fees to bring the firearm back to LTT and send it out to the new FFL.

When checking out with a firearm through our e-store, you should see our FFL automation system after entering your email address - it looks like this:

Enter the FFL/Dealer's zipcode, select the 5 mile option, and then select "Show FFL Stores" and select the FFL you're transferring through from the menu on the left hand side.
From there, complete the purchase as normal and we will automatically receive the FFL license, no need to contact us or have the shop contact us.
Some helpful tips with this process:
1) Many FFLs hold their FFL license under a personal or corporate name, not their DBA, or the name you may know their shop as. Because of this, you will be best served by matching their physical address with the addresses listed in the left hand menu.
2) If you still cannot locate your FFL, then broaden your search to 10, 15, or more miles to see if they populate on the list - again using their physical address to confirm that it is the correct shop.
3) Make sure you've spoken with your FFL and that they will accept the transfer - Most large department stores that have an FFL will populate on our list but DO NOT accept outside transfers.
4) In the rare event that you don't see this field while purchasing a firearm from LTT, please enter the Dealer's address and name in the shipping field.

Where is my package?

In addition to the normal influx of holiday volumes, not to mention weather delays, ALL of our shipping carriers are experiencing delays.
Please Note:

  • Shipments might be delayed after leaving our facility at multiple points in the ship process
  • Cut off times might be adjusted with or without notice
  • Drivers might arrive earlier or later than originally projected
  • Additional sweeps, trucks or drivers might NOT be possible and cannot be guaranteed
  • Online tracking info might be delayed – the network is currently loaded with exorbitant info so there could be tech delays and some carriers are missing scans throughout the shipping process in the rush to get everything delivered.

We see the same tracking information you do through USPS, FEDEX and/or UPS.
Please understand that tracking numbers are NOT always updated by the USPS, and ALL carriers are extremely overwhelmed at this time.
If you received a tracking number, you may need to wait 48-72 hours to see the tracking info appear, ESPECIALLY if a carrier misses a scan anywhere along the route.
We are not AMAZON PRIME, everything does not ship two-day.

We love polite customers. If you have an inquiry, please ask. Treat our customer service team with respect if the USPS has not delivered your package and you are trying to track it down. We will do our best to assist.

How do I send in my slide?

Fill out this custom order form with your information including your LTT Order Number. Any slides received not associated with an LTT Order will be returned to you. Once your slide is received, it will take 3-6 weeks for your slide to be processed and returned.

If you are not having any other custom gun work performed, please send in ONLY your slide.

If you are having other work (trigger job, NP3 upgrade, etc) then you will need to send your entire firearm per the instructions below:

  1. First, follow this link: https://www.langdontactical.com/custom-gun-work-ltt-rdo-elite-optic-cut-for-your-92-slide and select your 92 type or slide model, then add the “RDO Elite Optic Cut” item to your cart and checkout as normal - be sure to make a note of the five digit Order Number you receive upon successful checkout.

  2. Print and fill your completed LTT Order Form & include it, as well as a photocopy or photograph of your driver's license with your shipment - you can also send these to sales@langdontactical.com but printed copies must be in the box with your firearm(s).

  3. Package your slide or firearm in a hard side pistol case - we recommend wrapping the slide or firearm in bubble wrap before boxing it up to avoid damage in shipping.
LTT assumes NO liability and is not responsible for damage to poorly packaged firearms or slides.
If you are only getting trigger, frame, or slide work done, we do not need your magazines.
If you are getting the NP3 coating on your firearm, you need to include your magazines.

  4. Ship your slide or firearm to LTT at the address provided on the Custom Gun Work form within 10 business days of paying your deposit fee.

If you have any questions, please reach out to customer service at sales@langdontactical.com.

***NP3 SLIDES: If you are sending us a slide with NP3 safety levers, please add the Product Add On Fee to your cart - this covers the difference between the included black levers and new NP3 Safety Levers. New amended levers are necessary for this system.

Can you just send me the parts to do this to my gun?

No, our system requires milling of the slide and installation of proprietary LTT parts that must be inspected and installed by LTT gunsmiths for proper fit and function.

Will this work on all Beretta 92 series slides?

This system is designed to work on 92 Vertec style slides, including the Elite LTT, M9A3, 92X, and 92A1/96A1 slides.

Please be aware that our RDO slides are fully cerakoted, meaning they may be slightly tight on first install.
Normal cycling of the slide through use will wear in the cerakote.

Do you have mounting plates for other micro red dots?

Currently, we are only offering plates for optics that use the Trijicon RMR interface which includes the RMR, SRO,
Holosuns, and some others that use the same mounting interface.
Other optic system mounts are coming in the near future.

Q: What Optics have the RMR Footprint?

A:

Q: What red dot optics fit the RMR Footprint?

    • Trijicon RMR
    • Trijicon SRO
    • Holosun HS407C
    • Holosun HS507C
    • Holosun HS508T
    • Riton X3 Tactix PRD
    • NcStar VISM FlipDot Pro
    • Swampfox Kingslayer

What screws are used to mount my RDO plate or optic?

The Plate to slide attachment screws are size M3-0.5mm x 6mm

  • For attaching a Holosun to the RDO Plate use: 4x40 – 5/16
  • For attaching an RMR to the RDO Plate use: 4x40 – 3/8

All Elite Optic Cut mounting screws should be torqued to 10 inch pounds using a hand driven torque wrench or torque driver.

Will the LTT RDO cut work on my 92/96FS / Brigadier / 92X Performance / Other 92 variant slide?

Our RDO solution will work on most 92 Series pistols with vertec style slides, however there are some exceptions - please read below for more details:

Q: Can you do the RDO on my 92/92 FS slide?

A: No; The top of the 92/96FS slide is slightly taller than the Vertec slide. The CNC program and the adaptor plate is only set up for the specific height of the Vertec/Elite LTT/M9A3/92A1 slide.

Q: Can you do the RDO cut on my Brigadier Slide?

A: No; The top of the Brigadier slide is slightly lower than the top of the Vertec slide. The CNC program and the adaptor plate is only set up for the specific height of the Vertec/Elite LTT/M9A3/92A1 slide.

Q: Can you do the RDO Cut to my 92/96 D, 92/96 D Vertec, 92X Performance, 92/96 Combat, 92/96 Stock?

A: No; These models do not use a slide-mounted safety lever and therefore have a different firing pin. We do not make a firing pin that works with these model pistols.

Q: Why wont the RDO slide work on my 92A1 frame?

A: The 92A1 frame is different in the recoil spring area, specifically there is a bushing in the frame and a larger nose/dust cover that impacts that bushing in recoil. The standard slide, like the Elite slide, would damage that bushing in the 92A1 because it would not contact it correctly.

Q: Will the RDO cut or Red Dot Ready Slide work on my 92X Performance?

A: Our RDO Cut will not work on the 92X Performance due to the brigadier slide, and frame mounted safety.
The Red Dot Ready Slides do fit and function on a 92X Performance, however neither the frame mounted nor slide mounted safety/decocker will function AT ALL.
***LTT does not assume any liability for injury or damage that results from use of an RDO slide on the 92X Performance without a functioning safety/decocker.***

What holster support is there for the 92 with optics?

These JM Custom Kydex Wing Claw 2.0 for RDO (https://www.langdontactical.com/92-rdo-jm-custom-kydex-wing-claw-2-0/) and the OWB/Range Holsters (https://www.langdontactical.com/jm-custom-kydex-owb-range-competition-holster/) are great options for OWB and AIWB carry.

What is NP3?

The NP3 Option includes an NP3 finish on all of the metal parts in the firearm, EXCEPT for the frame, slide, and barrel. NP3 is a nickel teflon finish that adds lubricity, rust and corrosion resistance and a smoothness to all of the components. When it comes to the trigger job, it makes the DA/SA a little bit smoother.

Check out this video 'About NP3' with Carry Trainer and Ernest Langdon for a more in depth description.

I installed the Trigger job in the Bag and now I am getting hammer follow and/or my gun is firing multiple times.

Sear Spring Installation - this is the correct orientation for the Sear Spring in the Beretta 92/M9. It can be installed backwards, and it will work, most of the time, but you will get an occasional hammer follow. Make sure you install it correctly and you will have much better results.

Which Hammer Spring Weight should I choose?

Combined with our Trigger Job in a Bag kit and the following hammer springs, your DA/SA pull weight will be approximately:

  • 11# DA: 5.3 to 6 lbs
  • 12# DA: 5.6 to 6.4lbs
  • 13# DA: 6.3 to 7lbs
  • 14# DA: 7 to 7.5lbs
  • 16# DA: 7.2 to 8 lbs

On the PX4, it will be:

  • #11 DA 6 to 7lbs
  • #12 DA 7 to 8lbs

With the Single-Action will be between 3.5 and 4 lbs for both the 92/96 and PX4.

92 Elite LTT Compact and Centurion - Common Questions

Check out this video for help in deciding which gun and options you might want!

What is a Centurion? It is a modified Full size frame made to fit the compact barrel and slide

Gun Features: Exact same feature as the Elite LTT full size except, the Centurion has the Full-size grip with a compact slide. The Compact has the compact slide and grip.

Barrel length? Both of the barrels are 4.3” with a target crown, we can cut and crown the barrels flush to the slide with a 20-degree target crown.

Dimensionally, the hammer springs are the same and will work in the Beretta PX4, M9, 92 and 96 Series guns, however they deliver different performance. A 12# hammer spring in a 92/96/M9 would be considered a competition hammer spring, but in a PX4, it would be perfectly suitable for duty or EDC.

My barrel in my 90-Series pistol is not centered in the slide. Is this a problem?

A: This is a normal and common condition on 92 Series firearms; it does not affect function or accuracy.
From Beretta:

90-Series Pistol Barrel Alignment

Updated 3/12/19

Frequently, our technical division receives inquiries from concerned consumers, stating that the end of the barrel on their Beretta 90-series pistol is not centered in the end of the slide (as depicted below). Owners are often worried that this feature is a defect, and/or will negatively impact accuracy or safe function. Fortunately, this is not the case.

This feature is a normal characteristic of a 90-series pistol. The barrel is secured in to position by the locking block design, which, in turn, holds the barrel firmly within the slide when in battery. However, the orientation of this mechanism often results in the barrel resting off-center within the assembly. This condition does not have a negative impact the accuracy, nor does it negatively affect the functionality of the firearm. Some pistol designs employ the use of barrel bushings (such as in a 1911) or other component, which often results in uniform parallel alignment between the barrel and slide. However, 90-Series pistols conspicuously omit these features.

Subjectively, this feature may render the firearm less than aesthetically pleasing, however, no corrective action is necessary. Notably, heavy usage will often result in a somewhat oblong or rectangular wear pattern in the parkerized/anodized finish of the barrel, manifesting at the point where the barrel contacts the side of the slide, or along the barrel top, where the “bridge” maintaining the front sight post rubs along the barrel. This can be maintained by oiling the barrel with a moisture displacing lubricant, as is routine in firearm maintenance. Doing so will prevent the barrel from developing rust. If the consumer wishes, the barrel may be re-finished as needed. However, this is typically at the cost of the consumer, and the wear pattern is likely to re-develop during normal use.

Models affected include, but are not necessarily limited to:

92FS, 92A1, M9A1, M9A3, M9 Commercial, 90-TWO, 92X, etc.

All 90-series pistols are proven designs that meet military, law enforcement and commercial requirements for reliability and accuracy. However, if the need for gunsmithing services remains/becomes evident, please contact us at 1-800-BERETTA, ext. 2003. Please have your serial number prepared.

What are the height and width on the 92 Elite LTT sights?

  • The height of the front sight is .220 inches from the base of the dovetail
  • The width of the fiber optic rod is: .055 inches
  • The height of the rear sight is: .290 inches
  • The rear sight notch width is: .150
  • The Front Sight post is .110 inches wide

Will +P 9mm Ammo work in the 92 Elite LTT?

Yes, +P Ammo will work. Many folks ask us about +P+ Ammo, we don't know because that ammo is not rated and often times, different, therefore, we cannot say.

Why Isn't My Trigger Reset Audible or Tactile?

A: You need to get off of your trigger and stop holding it to the rear while you are aiming the gun:

Optimized Performance Trigger Bar Questions

Will the OP Trigger Bar work with the existing trigger job/trigger job in a bag I have? Yes it will.
Will the OP Trigger Bar work with the Short Reach Trigger? Yes.
Is this drop in ready? Yes. It may need to be fitted, but less than the other trigger bars we sell.
What 92's will this work in? It will work in the 92F models and later and *may* also work with 92SB's.
It will not work with the 92S, 92M, or the original 1975 Model 92.
Do I need to have a trigger job on my gun in order for this to work? No, you do not.
Is the firing pin block functional and gun still drop safe with the installation of this OP Trigger Bar? Yes.
Will the OP Trigger Bar work on a 92 Compact and Centurion? Yes.
Will the OP Trigger Bar work on the 92D? Yes, it will work, but it will not reduce the reset.
Does the OP Trigger Bar reduce pre-travel? No.

Are the internal parts from the commercial M9A1, compatible with the commercial M9? I can find M9A1 parts everywhere, but little to no M9 parts. Specifically, the barrel locking lug and associated parts.

All you need is a locking block kit. All the locking blocks are interchangeable from the 92SB to current production. Beretta made updates to the locking block but they are backwards compatible to the older model guns.

I would like a black barrel, how can I get this option?

You have to have your barrel cut & crowned to be refinished in black.

https://www.langdontactical.com/custom-gun-work-cut-crown-barrel/

Why is my new LTT hammer spring longer than my factory D model spring? And/Or I think you sent me the wrong hammer spring because it is a different size than the one I took out of the gun.

There is more to springs than just their length. Wire diameter, material, number of coils, the distance between coils and working space all play a factor. Our lighter springs are often longer than the factory springs that they replace.

Why do the Hammers sit to the left in the 92 and PX4’s?

The hammers all sit to the left on the 92’s and the PX4’s because there is a relief cut on the right side of the hammer. It’s there so that the hammer only rides in the slide in the same spot so that it wears evenly. It’s more visible on a PX4 than the 92.

If you look at the slide and you pull the slide back. The width of the hammer is centered on the pusher on the bottom of the slide.

What sights will fit my Elite LTT (or other 92 Series) Pistol?

We have multiple sight options for the Elite LTT, M9A1, M9A3, & 92X (Vertec) slides, to include:
  - Ameriglo Spartan Night Sight Set or Front Sight Only (FS Height: ) - FS compatible with Elite LTT stock rear sight
  - Ameriglo ProGlo Front Sight (FS Height: )
  - Wilson Combat Rear Sights (.280-.310 Heights available) - These will NOT fit brigadier model slides.
  - Elite LTT Fiber Optic sight set & Fiber Optic Rod Replacements

What is the proper point of aim on the 92 Elite LTT pistols? Is it combat 'hold' or 12 o'clock hold?

A: The bullet should hit at the top of the front sight at about 15-20 yards depending on ammunition.

Can you install a single side safety/decocker lever to my Elite LTT?

No - the single side safety/decocker lever does not work with vertec slides, which includes the Elite LTT series.

Where can I find a manual for my 1301 (and upgrades)?

Is the Beretta 1301 from LTT threaded for Chokes?

Yes! All LTT 1301s are Gen 2 Tactical models that use the Optima HP choke system.

What is the capacity of the LTT 1301 Shotgun?

Because the Beretta 1301 Tactical is an imported shotgun, it is subject to the USC 922r regulations, which the LTT model meets through the addition of the Magpul stock, forearm & required Aridus Industries adapters.

These upgrades allow for the legal installation of the Nordic Components magazine extension, which brings the LTT 1301's capacity up to 7+1.

Are the 92 and the PX4 Hammer Springs the same?

Dimensionally, the hammer springs are the same and will work in the Beretta PX4, M9, 92 and 96 Series guns, however they deliver different performance. A 12# hammer spring in a 92/96/M9 would be considered a competition hammer spring, but in a PX4, it would be perfectly suitable for duty or EDC.

Which Hammer Spring Weight should I choose?

Combined with our Trigger Job in a Bag kit and the following hammer springs, your DA/SA pull weight will be approximately:

  • 11# DA: 5.3 to 6 lbs
  • 12# DA: 5.6 to 6.4lbs
  • 13# DA: 6.3 to 7lbs
  • 14# DA: 7 to 7.5lbs
  • 16# DA: 7.2 to 8 lbs

On the PX4, it will be:

  • #11 DA 6 to 7lbs
  • #12 DA 7 to 8lbs

With the Single-Action will be between 3.5 and 4 lbs for both the 92/96 and PX4.

Will the PX4 Trigger Job in a Bag work in my subcompact?

No, the PX4 TJIB will work in the PX4 Full-size and Compact. You can send your subcompact in for us to do a trigger job on the firearm itself.

Can I register for your Advanced Class without having taken one of your previous classes?

No, you cannot, unless you are registering for the 3-Day Advanced Tactical Pistol Skills Course (The 3- Day covers the prerequisites for the advanced). My Tactical Pistol Skills Class is not a Basic course by any means. I often run into issues where people want to take this as their first or second class and they have a very difficult time keeping up. It is a very fast paced class where we do many drills that most consider advanced. Attending my Advanced Class is not an issue of skill or ability, it is an issue of understanding of the fundamentals of how and why I teach and train the way I do. I have a very specific theory of training that is addressed in detail in the standard Tactical Pistol Skills class and not covered at all in the Advanced Class. I have tried a few times to let people in the class that have "the skill" to attend, but they end up looking at me funny when I start talking about certain things and I have to go back and explain, which is a waste of time for the rest of the class.

I want to come to a class... do you have prerequisites for your course? What do I need to know how to do before I register?
